Alpine Story | Marialena Katra, BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management 2019

Marialena Katra, Greece

BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management 2019
Swiss Alpine Center Diploma in Hotel Management, 2016-2018

I was fortunately given the opportunity to work in a hotel the past summer to have a taste of a career in hotel management. Right from the beginning I felt this is an exciting career that I would like to pursue. Selecting Swiss Alpine Center, now the Hospitality & Tourism Management Department of City Unity, to proceed with my education for a career in hospitality and tourisms has been the greatest choice of my life!

Our campus which includes an operating hotel in the beautiful Athens Riviera provided the perfect combination of both practical lessons and theoretical courses. This is ideal to achieve a motivating environment for the students, providing them with skills and knowledge required to build a bright career in this huge industry. The opportunities rising in this school are countless.

I just finished my first academic year and currently performing my first industry placement at the Athens Hilton, one of the leading hospitality chains internationally. Studying for my BA(Hons) which is awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University at our campus here makes me feel secure that I will achieve all of my goals! I am so proud of being a member of the Alpine family!

Career Day at Alpine gives us the opportunity to interview with leading hotels for our internships. Here I was interviewed by Mr Panagiotis Constantinidis, Director of Sales at the Metropolitan Hotel, an Alpine graduate himself. It was difficult for me to choose from all the offers I received.

With colleagues and Mr Parousis on Career Day! Excitement in the air!

I was selected by Mr Antonis Parousis to serve on the All Star F&B Team because I was a good student in his Food & Beverage Management course! That was a great experience and a pleasure to work with fellow students in preparing an All Star Lunch.

Serving dignitaries at the All Star Lunch.

Food & Beverage Practical classes were a lot of fun with my fellow students. Here we served Christmas Lunch to all the students, faculty and guests.

But it is not all work, work …. We also had our fun parties!

I am so proud of being a member of the Alpine family!
