City Unity - Alpine Center: Event Sponsor of the Hellenic Association of Historical Writers

Alpine Center, The Hospitality & Tourism Management Department of City Unity, sponsored a Reception organized by the Hellenic Association of Historical Writers in March 30, 2016, on the occasion of their Awards Ceremony of the Second National Competition of Narrative History at IEK City- Hellenic Y.M.C.A Historical Building- in Athens.




The Academic Dean of City Unity - Alpine Center, Dr. Yiannis Suvatzis, welcomed the audience, thanking the Association for selecting City Unity to present the awards to its winning members. He praised the association for its contribution to the field of history and emphasized its members’role to convey our heritage through theircreative and innovative writing. He also highlighted the importance of their writing to stimulate and alert all of us towards the cultivation of mind as the prerequisite to further advance national pride, awareness and knowledge.




Furthermore, he introduced City Unity College and its famous department of hospitality and tourism management, known worldwide as Alpine Center, and pointed out the quality education offered at our academic institution, creating and disseminating knowledge in its efforts to prepare students as the tomorrow’s leaders and knowledgeable professionals.

Hospitality at its best offered by Alpine Center students at 2nd Greek Tourism Expo

Hotel Management students of Alpine Center, Hospitality & Tourism Management Department of City Unity, and of City Unity College, participated and supported the 2nd Greek Tourism Expo, hosted at Metropolitan Exhibition Center on 4-6 December 2015.

 

Students excelled at putting into practice the theory of true hospitality at a “real” event,  offering a warm welcome to all visitors in the main entrance of the exhibition center, registering them at the reception desk, hosting them in conference rooms, providing assistance to the exhibitors and their guests, and serving food and beverages to all  hosted buyers who came from all over the world to participate in this exhibition with the slogan “Come to meet the Greeks”!

Our students’ enthusiasm and commitment to be the best in what they do, make us all very proud.  Our  grateful thanks go to them, the faculty and staff who actively participated in the exhibition offering the highest standards of service to exhibitors, visitors and guests!

Worldwide Scholarships Competition Announcement to study in Greece

Tourism has been a growing industry around the world and in Greece. Greece has incredible beauty, culture and history.  “2014 may be an even better year for Greek tourism. A better year for Greece,” stated Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni, Minister of Tourism.

Mr. Andreas Andreadis, President of SETE-The Greek Association of Tourist Enterprises  announced that SETE’s official target for 2014 is for Greece to attract 18 million international arrivals and 13 billion euros in tourism revenue.  In 2021 Greece is anticipated to welcome 24 million tourists!

In its effort and commitment to provide quality higher education and career opportunities in this sector, City Unity’s Hospitality & Tourism Management Department has announced 2 scholarships for Fall 2014:

1) One scholarship to complete an MSc in Hospitality Management or MSc in Tourism Management, validated by Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK and offered at City Unity College.  Duration of studies at the Master’s level is 12 months on a full-time basis, 3 years on a part-time basis.

2) One scholarship to complete a BA (Hons)  in one of the following specializations: Travel and Tourism Management, Travel &  Health Tourism Management, Events Management, International Hospitality and Tourism Management, or  Food and Beverage Management. Duration of studies at the Bachelor’s level is 3 years for full-time students.  The degree is awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK).

How to Qualify?

To qualify you must submit your work in the ongoing scholarship competition which ends August 30, 2014.

The submission is a video which promotes Greece.

1) The video should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

2) It can include pictures, video recordings, animation.

3) It must be in English or have English subtitles.

4) It must be your own work. You don’t have to use expensive cameras; your phone camera will do for example. It is the creativity and the message of it that will be judged.

5) As soon as it is submitted your video becomes the property of City Unity.

6) The video must be submitted to the following address: s.hilentzaris@cityu.gr no later than August 30, 2014. Videos up to 2 GB can be submitted by using the free service: https://www.wetransfer.com/  and entering the above address as the recipient. Smaller size videos might be submitted directly to the email address given. You must include your full Name, Address and Contact information so the school can contact you.
