Student Council 2013-14 / Open Day 2013

Alpine Center’s Hotel Operations Manager and Student Council are looking forward to joining them at the Open Day scheduled for Friday 29 November 16:00-20:00 to share their experiences of preparing themselves for an exciting career in the hospitality and tourism field!



Student Council 2013-14



 The mission of the Student Council is to enhance the quality of student life at Alpine by representing the interests of students in academic matters and extracurricular activities.  The council is the formal link between students and management.  Each class or section will, in the beginning of the year, elect a class representative and an assistant class representative.  The class representatives are the formal link between the students and the Student Council.  The Student Council, in turn, is the formal link between the students and the managements.

Student Council activities range between organizing many exciting community and fun events such as Cleaning the Beach followed by a Barbeque Party, Christmas Party, Sports Events, Fund raising events, donating clothing to the poor, cooking a meal at an orphanage, fashion show, to name a few.

Student Council members also sit on the Academic Board and give their feedback and interact with their faculty in evaluating their modules!

Responsibilities
  • Organization of the works in the whole property area
  • Staffing recruitment
  • Organization of work and control over housekeeping staff (service, cleaning, laundry service), chefs, engineers, IT and security staff, gardeners etc.
  • Control over gardening (total area is 7 He)
  • Control and organization of the operation of road and marine transport
  • Organization of family events and celebrations
  • Recruiting, training and monitoring staff
  • Dealing with customer complaints and comments
  • Addressing problems and troubleshooting
  • Ensuring events run smoothly
  • Dealing with contractors and suppliers
  • Ensuring security is effective
  • Carrying out inspections of property and services
Requirements
  • Higher education in sphere of hotel and hospitality business, qualification for house management
  • Relevant experience is a must
  • Languages: Greek/English or English/Russian
  • Honesty, accuracy, discipline, creativity, social skills
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices

Seminar E-TOURISM: SITE, SEO, SOCIAL MEDIA

Alpine International Hospitality & Tourism Management Department of City Unity College and Just Online advertising agency, organize the Seminar E-tourism: SITE, SEO and SOCIAL MEDIA, that will take place on 23 February 2013, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Glyfada campus. Speaker: Arsenis Paschopoulos*, Managing Partner in ‘Just online’ and introducer of the course e-business in City Unity College.
 


 
 
The seminar is mainly addressed to small and middle sized businesses of hospitality and tourist operations that want to create an appropriate online presence and promote it on social media and search engines.
 
During the workshop the following questions, among others, will be answered:
  • Which are the important ‘elements’ of a site that lead to sales?
  • Which are the most common mistakes made during the construction of a site?
  • How will you manage to bring your visitors back to your site?
  • What should you take care of in order for your site to rank high in the search engines?
  • Which are the differences between advertisements of Google and SEO and which are the pros and cons of each approach?
  • What are the benefits that your company will secure from its presence in Social media?
  • How will you combine the Social Media with the site, with the aim to increase the visits and the sales?
The participants will have the chance to pose their questions and receive answers.

Annual Career Day @Alpine on 15 February 2013

Alpine Center’s Annual Career Day this year falls on 15  February.  Representatives from leading hospitality and tourism companies have the opportunity to make presentations about the benefits of working for their organizations, and interview students interested in doing their internships at the respective properties.  Graduates of Alpine are also invited to attend and have the opportunity of exploring permanent positions offered.
