Testimonial * Joseph Chalfoun

Joseph Chalfoun, Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management, BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management, Master’s in International Hospitality & Tourism Leadership (2005)

Head of Operations - Middle East & Greece, Food Fund International, UAE

'In 2002,
I walked into Alpine
a young student hungry for knowledge.

In 2005,
I left with so much more
than simply having my hunger satisfied'.

I graduated first with a Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management, then a year later with a BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management, and finally, 12 months later with a Master’s in International Hospitality & Tourism Leadership.

During my years at Alpine I had the opportunity to put into practice what I learned and to practice the leadership skills I acquired.  As a result I served as the President of the Alumni Association.  I also had the great fortune of doing my internship in 5 star establishments that paved the way to the career opportunities I received upon graduation.

In a few years, Alpine has shaped the way I think and the way I regard the hospitality industry. It has instilled in me the right values and disciplines I needed to get me from one success to another. The passion and dedication the faculty showed me and my fellow students, taught us to regard each and every day as a chance to make a difference in the lives of people we meet. And that in itself is the essence of our industry

In my current position, now, I attend Alpine’s Annual Career Day, to recruit student trainees and graduates for our thriving company, just because I know those students and graduates have been trained the same way I have been, trained and educated to succeed and make a difference!

We are so Proud of our Graduates!

What could be better than that? A letter of Kostas Kyriazis, our graduate, to the President of Alpine Center, Sybil Hofmann:

Dear Sybil,
I hope you are well, I am e-mailing you to keep you updated, as usual, with my career move.
At the end of November I decided to leave Starbucks, having a very nice offer in Cyprus from the biggest F&B company PHC*.
The company is bringing the U.K. caffe Nero concept in Cyprus and they wanted someone to have the training in London be the leader of all openings (4 by the end of july) and be the Operations Manager for Cyprus, in charge for all the growth of the brand.
I was really fascinated, already knew the owner, and went for 2 months in London and now back in Cyprus organizing the whole thing.

I am really excited they really liked me both in Cyprus and everyone in London.
I already keep you update cause soon we will have job openings like store managers, etc.

Looking forward hearing from you soon.
Once more thank you for all the constant help and support.

Best regards,
Kostas

Best wishes for continued success and happiness, Kostas!

We are so proud of our graduates, not only for their outstanding career development, but also for the solidarity among them. It is being proved, graduate by graduate, that the Alpine Center Builds both Character and Careers.

Testimonial *International Hospitality & Tourism Management

Two of our Alpine students,
Stamatis Cheimarios from Corfu and Spiros Karagogeas from Thessaloniki,
did their first internship in Brussels, Belgium, at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotels.

Courtyard by Marriott, Brussels
"One year ago I was being interviewed by Mrs.Hofmann in order to join Alpine Center. Now I work for one of the largest Marriott brands, Courtyard by Marriott in Brussels.
Literally my second interview, after the first of Alpine, was the one that offered me a job in a very demanding, but also rewarding, hotel chain abroad. From the first moment I stepped into Courtyard, I realized the significance of the lessons and recalled the advice of my lecturers in Alpine. Especially the importance of smiling. Mr Koumantakis has a favourite moto: "Find a solution''. Management is all about finding solutions, which is thoroughly tought in Alpine; how to solve problems in the most efficient way on every occasion. It is better to teach someone how to fish, than occasionally provide him with fish.
I would like to invite Alpiners to take the big decision and do an internship abroad and why not Brussels! You have to be brave like Spyros was. He can confirm that it was a fantastic start to his carrer!"

Testimonial *BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management, Cruise Ships

Earn a BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management
validated by the University of Wales, Uk and land your dream job!

Take advantage of the many job opportunities on cruise ships!

Vanessa Koustas, the Alpine graduate who studied the Diploma in Hotel Management, currently works on the Paul Gaugin Cruise Ship.

Vanessa KoustasVanessa Koustas has this to say about her exciting experience on M/S Paul Gauguin 5 star cruise ship sailing in the French Polynesia:

“I have been working on a cruise ship for over a year now as an International Hostess but started at the Reception desk of Paul Gauguin travelling in French Polynesia.

It is really a great job, hard at the beginning but nothing more rewarding than seeing guests come back to thank me for the services I was able to provide to them. I am truly motivated working on this cruise ship because as an employee you are appreciated by your superiors especially when you demonstrate a professional attitude which was instilled in me by Alpine Center.  This is the workplace where I see the results of a superior Swiss education! I see opportunities of reaching higher positions, but also different ones. The pay is also very good.

I really hope many new students will apply for the BA(Hons) International Hospitality & Tourism Management at City Unity College and truly encourage everyone to try at least once this unique experience of working on board a 5 star cruise ship!”
