Worldwide Scholarships Competition Announcement to study in Greece

Tourism has been a growing industry around the world and in Greece. Greece has incredible beauty, culture and history.  “2014 may be an even better year for Greek tourism. A better year for Greece,” stated Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni, Minister of Tourism.

Mr. Andreas Andreadis, President of SETE-The Greek Association of Tourist Enterprises  announced that SETE’s official target for 2014 is for Greece to attract 18 million international arrivals and 13 billion euros in tourism revenue.  In 2021 Greece is anticipated to welcome 24 million tourists!

In its effort and commitment to provide quality higher education and career opportunities in this sector, City Unity’s Hospitality & Tourism Management Department has announced 2 scholarships for Fall 2014:

1) One scholarship to complete an MSc in Hospitality Management or MSc in Tourism Management, validated by Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK and offered at City Unity College.  Duration of studies at the Master’s level is 12 months on a full-time basis, 3 years on a part-time basis.

2) One scholarship to complete a BA (Hons)  in one of the following specializations: Travel and Tourism Management, Travel &  Health Tourism Management, Events Management, International Hospitality and Tourism Management, or  Food and Beverage Management. Duration of studies at the Bachelor’s level is 3 years for full-time students.  The degree is awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK).

How to Qualify?

To qualify you must submit your work in the ongoing scholarship competition which ends August 30, 2014.

The submission is a video which promotes Greece.

1) The video should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

2) It can include pictures, video recordings, animation.

3) It must be in English or have English subtitles.

4) It must be your own work. You don’t have to use expensive cameras; your phone camera will do for example. It is the creativity and the message of it that will be judged.

5) As soon as it is submitted your video becomes the property of City Unity.

6) The video must be submitted to the following address: s.hilentzaris@cityu.gr no later than August 30, 2014. Videos up to 2 GB can be submitted by using the free service: https://www.wetransfer.com/  and entering the above address as the recipient. Smaller size videos might be submitted directly to the email address given. You must include your full Name, Address and Contact information so the school can contact you. If you have any questions about the submission please contact Dr. Sofia Hilentzaris, Global Academic Director, GEA Alpine Center Switzerland  at s.hilentzaris@cityu.gr. Prospective students must have Greek or EU citizenship or qualify for student visa, submissions may be from any country in the world including Greece.

From 2000 to date, Hotel Brain has evolved from a small management company in Santorini to a key player in Greece’s hotel market. The firm currently operates fifty six (56) luxury and 4 star properties under hotel management agreements in 16 Greek destinations.
In 2010, Panos signed a partnership agreement with Luxury Hotel Partners Ltd. UK with a view to expand HotelBrain’s activities abroad. As a result, Panos is currently working on setting up the new HotelBrain offices in co-operation with the local partners in Lebanon, Turkey, Dubai and Cyprus. In addition, a new company is planned to commence operations by the end of 2012 specializing in the development and management of large tourism infrastructures.

The number of foreign visitors to Greece has declined by more than eight percent over the past five months, Panos Paleologos, president and CEO of Greek Hotel Brain, told CNBC, "I think Greece certainly has to rely on the tourism industry and because of the crisis more and more people understand this, but it is tough".        2 AUG 12
